Trudy and the Romance reissue of their 2019 debut album Sandman, which features 4 new bonus tracks. The reissue is released digitally, on limited edition CD, as well as professionally taped live music videos of the 4 bonus tracks as recorded live from Parr Street Studios (The Smiths, Doves, Coldplay, Echo and the Bunnymen, Black Sabbath), in their hometown of Liverpool. The band is fortunate to have recorded at the historic studio which is sadly set to be soon demolished to make way for new flats.

About the recording session for the bonus tracks frontman Oliver Taylor says, "Our day recording at Parr Street studios, a Liverpool treasure, was a very special experience. Immediately we felt connected and tuned in, with one another and our instruments. The surroundings and the atmosphere of the studio really breathed life into the songs, encouraging us to play as if our audience was there with us. I am grateful to have been part of such a memorable day with the band and to have made some sweet music in Parr Street before it says goodbye and closes its doors."

Bustin’ out of Liverpool, UK, Trudy and The Romance woo with the mutant 50s pop and self-declared alligator rock-n-roll of their eagerly-anticipated album Sandman.

The release drives forth the dreamboat pop of their prior “Junkyard Jazz” EP through its Spector rhythms, whilst incorporating the album’s nods to Jonathan Richman, Louis Prima, Brian Wilson’s wall of sound, film composers Henry Mancini and Bernard Herrmann, and the golden age of Disney.

Recorded with producer David Pye (Wild Beasts), Sandman draws the listener further into the trio’s colorful world, and follows the latest escapades of its central protagonist, little Johnny, and his inner turmoil. “It’s a coming of age tale about asking for your innocence back. It’s a breakup album and loosely based on the hero’s journey,” Olly says. Rocking and reeling through dreamy harmonies and dazzling guitars it’s everything good pop music should be – catchy, clever and brimming with curiously wonderful characters in Trudy’s inimitable realistic-cartoon narrative.
